How to create a SRV Record

This document will show you how to create a SRV Record using CloudFlare.


Guide

Step 1: Login to the DNS settings panel of your domain provider. For this tutorial, we'll be using Cloudflare.

Step 2: Create a new A record.

Step 3: As the host fill in either @ if you want to just use your full domain (example dedicatedmc.io) or the sub domain name you want. Host ‘mc’ will let users connect to mc.dedicatedmc.io for example.

Step 4: As target fill in the IP Address of your server without the port.

Step 5: As TTL (Time To Live) select automatic if possible or select 30 minutes.

Step 6: Create a new SRV record.

Step 7: As the Name fill in the domain or subdomain you used for your A record (example dedicatedmc.io or mc.dedicatedmc.io).

Step 8: As Service fill in _minecraft

Step 9: Select TCP as the protocol.

Step 10: As TTL (Time To Live) select automatic if possible or select 30 minutes.

Step 11: As Priority fill in 0.

Step 12: As Weight fill in 0.

Step 13: As Port fill in the port your server is running on.

The Port can be seen from the Server List:

Step 14: As Target fill in the domain or subdomain you used for your A record (example dedicatedmc.io or mc.dedicatedmc.io). After all of that is done It should look like this:

Step 15: Your players can now connect to your domain without the port. (example mc.dedicatedmc.io).

It may take up to 48 Hours for your domain to propagate!
