How to create/update a 1.16 server

This document will show you how to update/create your server to the newest version of Minecraft.



How to create a 1.16 Server

Step 1: Make sure your "File Management" menu is empty.

Step 2: Download the 1.16.1 server.jar here.

Once downloaded - rename it to server.jarupload the server.jar to your server.

Step 3: Once uploaded, click on "console" and start your server!

How to update your 1.15.2 server to 1.16

This guide will show you how to update your Paper 1.15.2 server to vanilla 1.16

Vanilla server.jar's DO NOT save world files in separate directories. This means that if you update your server.jar to vanilla 1.16, You will need to reset your Nether/End worlds.

Plugins are not available for 1.16, This means that any plugins you previously had installed. Will no longer work until spigot/paper for 1.16 is updated.

Step 1: Create a backup of your server either using SFTP or RPP's built in Backups


Step 2: Delete your 1.15.2 server.jar

Step 3: Download the 1.16.1 server.jar here. Once downloaded - upload the server.jar to your server.

Note: If you are upgrading from 1.16 to 1.16.1, you do not need to do this step!

Step 4: Once the flag has been added to your startup parameters. Go to your server console, and startup your server.

Step 5: Once you have clicked start server. Your server will now go through and update your server chunks. Doing this will avoid your server from corrupting & help with server performance.

You will not be able to log into your server while your chunks are updating! - Please do not change any server files in order for everything to go smoothly.

Once everything has finished updating, Send a message in your ticket that you opened earlier saying so, And we will remove the startup flag from your server!
